So I know NOTHING about makeup, but I’m trying to learn.
Step one was to purchase a ton of NYX and start playing.
This is what I started with. I used an ELF studio powder brush which I’d read good things about. I was told by one of the last MUAs I worked with that she was using a mix between a 02 and a 03 on my skin, so that’s what I ordered. However, the mix between the two is way too dark for me (I found on my own, anyway). I think I either misheard her/she misread a label. Regardless, I might try mixing the 01 and 02, since the 02 by itself is still a little dark for me. I have a pale ass face!
Plus, with the studio brush the whole concoction was VERY oily. My powder is a color that’s too dark for me, so I have to upgrade. I might try getting some shine reducer or a primer in addition to upgrading to a powder my color, but I’m not a huge fan of the brush with the NYX.
I also tried (briefly) the NYX black eyeliner and one of the NYX lip glosses. The eyeliner’s good, pretty slick and dark, but definitely VERY smudgy. A little goes a long way. It’s one of the better eyeliner’s for the waterline though because it’s so slick.
The lip gloss is similar. Super effective, bright, but “slick.” Overall I like both and will have fun getting used to them!
